The Great Smoky MountainsPosted: July 18, 2014
We took a road trip. It was lovely and beautiful and it was a trip to the South. I love the South. I love the people, I love the culture, I love the kindness, warmth and I don’t even mind the slower way of life (that much). I had this wonderful idea to go to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. I spent many family vacations there as a kid and have talked about it so much that one cold day this past winter Joe said, “Well, lets go!” Now, whether he really meant that at the time or not didn’t matter much, because I was off and running.

We had such a great time and highly recommend the Gatlinburg, TN area as a family vacation destination. There are a million things to do there and we only did about 10% of what we could have done.
We explored the Great Smoky Mountains, hiked, saw gorgeous waterfalls and took in all its majesty. We shopped, we took a ski-lift ride up the mountainside, we played miniature golf, went go-carting, and ate and ate and ate…there are a lot of pancake houses in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We went to Dollywood, we met some really nice people and the best part of it all was that our Moms were able to join us.
Enjoying Tennessee for a week was a wonderful way to begin our summer. Caden was a trooper during the car rides. He stayed up late every night and had a blast. Of course, not only did he have Mommy and Daddy to himself all week he also had Yaya and Byeee.
Here are some of my favorite photos from our trip to the mountains.
